I was given three turtle eggs from Matt, but only one ended up being fertile and on August 5 this little guy hatched for me... I was a very exciting day for me and the wife...

This has to be a very special time for you. I hope to hear more about him as he grows.

It's very exciting when you see the first signs of hatching and the whole process is very cool to watch..

No better feeling in the world. I was just telling my friend, part jokingly, that I wish you could buy chelonian eggs at herp shows. Wouldn't it be cool to put a few eggs in the incubator and not know what's going to hatch out. It's like a lottery ticket or something.

Of course, the idealization is better than the reality, cause then you start to think about all the reasons that it wouldn't be practical.

Anyways, DMarcus, you pretty much get to have your cake and eat it too! So cool!

That's basically how it was for me, I had no idea what species of box turtle I was going to get, all I knew was that it was going to be a box turtle.

I have a pair of Asian Box Turtles that I am hoping will breed for me... :D

Hatchling box turtles are very tiny, but I agree, they are very amazing...
