My husband said, "Digger's out". "No", I said. "It's not warm enough today. He's in his indoor enclosure".
I went to the back door to see what he was talking about. "How did he . . . wait, that's not Digger".
On the patio was this fella, the same size as my 30 year old Russian.
He is hiding in his shell and hissing - so cute! and, trying to pee on me.
Is this a wild box turtle (I live in Oklahoma) that I can return to the outdoors?
I've never seen a box turtle with these markings.
OR . . has someone's pet escaped? (Or been turned out.)
Shell is relatively smooth.
His head and legs have small bright orange spots.
