I happen to own a tortoise named Oliver. He was previously kept by a breeder who did not take very good care of him at all. He has some piramiding on his shell and he has lots of stuck shed. I noticed recently that he had been breathing hard and I wondered why. And then I learned. I realized that I had just moved him into a bigger and better enclosure and he had been a little stressed out. So I did lots of research and figured out that when a tortoise is mad or over exerted that they tend to breath hard. So if you do have this problem do not be alarmed unless your tortoise is having trouble breathing or if when it breaths it makes a whistling noise!
