Wild desert tortoise!

I was camping out by Blythe, CA a couple weekends ago looking for geodes. Our camp host spotted this beautiful tortoise roaming around.
There's also a photo of a random wildflower I took and a landscape shot of us digging for geodes so you can get an idea of the area these tortoises live in... its so hot!

That's one of the animals on my list to see in their native world. Such a wonderful looking animal. Pretty flower. Anybody know what it is called?

Great pics Josh! I would love to see the desert torts in the wild. You would think I had see one seeing as how I live and play in there habitats, but no such luck yet.

Wow. That is truly amazing! I've never seen one in the desert despite growing up in So. Calif. a long time ago.
