Yes, I fed my tortoises corn on the cob for many years. They all loved it.

I am always up for more variety in the winter, but I haven't fed corn as I am worried about the starch and sugar. But I do remember reading that @zovick has also fed corn? I could be wrong.
feeding corn cobs to MY specific tortoises was simply a fun thing to give them in corn season. In Oregon cobs and leafs are ground together and then it all is cattle feed...I never thought of those tough leaves being tort food...

What I had in mind was growing some small corn plants and offering the leaves when they are still soft and fresh. I have no idea if it would work.

No 4 o'clocks in my yard ever again. Still cleaning up that mess from years ago. Planted two plants. Next year I had four grow up. Then the next year it was like 10! They drop seeds like crazy! Nope, never again. Heck they are worse than Rose of Sharon

I got the idea from people growing corn as an "ornamental grass" in pots in their balconies and patios. The goal isn't to get any corn to harvest, but instead a lush plant with as much foliage as possible.

It seems so easy that it might even succeed indoors during the winter.

FYI: I just recently read of a disaster from feeding corn on cob to torts.
It seems there is too much starch and sugar along with TOO MUCH FIBER.
A tort's digestion is so slow (2 weeks to poop a meal) and all that fiber in cob and leaf can get lodged in the intestine and can lead to a disastrous end for the tort.
Of course you can also read above about feeding corn for months and even years without any problem.
My opinion is better safe than sorry. There is so many other foods they can safely eat.
Just FYI - After all, that's what we are all about.

I think I won't feed them to stay on the safe side. I was just thinking about it as they are now in season here.
