Why do you buy two turtles and ask then for care? Normally you look how to keep them at first and than you buy them!

Indoors as we live in uk I have them in a tank mostly water but also land area. They have a 5% florescent light and the water is kept between 22 and 26 degrees

juli11 was giving you advise - sounds like you didn't like the truth. Isn't the truth what this forum is about?

All of the slider/cooter family of turtles are very cold tolerant - which means you don't need to [ should not! ] heat the water.. don't waste the electricity!

The main reason they bask is to absorb the UVB rays that supplies the D3 that they don't get from their mostly herbivorous diet - most don't know that. Too many.. bake these cooters/sliders/map and painted turtles.. thinking they bask to heat up.

What do I know? I've only hatched 5 different species of turtles.. - Bless God Europe - too...

Hi Rebecca

I have a ybs as well. If you want them to be comfortable, make sure your tank is big enough, with clean water. Also create a basking spot with a heat lamp. I also have a UV-lamp for vitamin D. I keep the water temperature at 25°C. My turtle has been living with me for 2 years now, and he's a very happy and healthy little thing. I hope this helps you. I've added a picture of my tank.
