So I just received my Giant South African Leo today and he hasn't stopped drinking his water. I understand that he must be thirsty but he has been there for an hour so does Backwater Reptiles hydrate there animals before shipment or is this normal?

I have no experience with Backwater Reptiles but I believe there is a thread about them in the vendor reviews sections.

But it is probably a good idea to give a shipped tort a good long warm soak just to be on the safe side . It certainly cant hurt ! ;)

Oh no. I hope your outcome is better than mine. I bought 2 leopards from them. They both died. They are the reason I now breed, and start my hatchlings humid. 1 of my babies lived almost a year, and never got over 50 grams. My Hatchlings hit 50 grams in the 1st month or 2. Search hatchling failure syndrome. Hoping for the best for you. Hydrate as much as you can.

I bought my Hermann from them and he did the same thing! Keep up with daily warm soaks 20-30 min long. Eventually they will adjust
