Hi guys!
I have a hermanns tortoise,he only eats lettuce n today he was not so active he woke up to eat food n I made him walk around. Today I also noticed that he had discharge frm his eyes after waking up frm sleep .
Im getting concerned guys . The enclosure is humid n I give him natural sunlight.

Thank you!

I am not familiar with Hermanns, but I believe he/she needs a wider range of diet than just lettuce. Also, what is the temp of the enclosure? Substrate you are using? If it's too cold and humid this can cause respiratory infection.
Others will need this kind of info and more (age of the tortoise, how long you've had it, pictures of enclosure are helpful as well) to be able to provide you with the best course of action. Let us know everything you can :)

We still need more info, things like what are you keeping it in now? A tank? A tortoise table? What kind of substrate? Is the enclosure inside or outside? What kind of lighting you are providing if it's inside?
Have you read the Hermann's care guides? Go to the Mediterranean section of this forum, click on Hermanns. Sorry I can't paste the link.

Your tortoise will not starve, just start putting good food in for it and it'll eat.

You have taken responsibility for this little guy, so please now take the time and patience to read the care sheets on his diet and enclosure needs, etc. and it will pay off in your ending up with a happy, healthy little tortoise!
Very best of luck!

There is a wealth of knowledge on this forum, if you read and ask questions you're going to have a heathy little guy! After a while you'll be able to go to that pet store and educate them on how to keep there tortoises that they sell!

I don't know what is available where you live, but rosy sallad (radicchio) is a nice food item and that could be worth trying. My leo loves it. Opuntia cactus is also nice and I got a piece for free to try, and my leo eats it like candy! Too much cactus will be a bit laxative since there isn't enough fibre in the cacvtus pad, but together with other things it's fine.
Do you have a park or garden or "wild nature" place close by where you can look for weeds? Chopping up lots of different things and mixing it together helps them eat things they might not eat otherwise... and they might even find a new favourite food.
