I saw this at Tractor Supply. It's cheaper than the ones I bought for tortoises:

These are common over in Africa. They had a wall mounted one in the room in my inn. It wasn't very effective, so I went and bought a regular space heater to use.

It might work in a small space like a tortoise box.

I have 2 of these. I was trying to figure out if they could be placed under substrate on a low setting to warm it but ended up finding this thread

I have one like that in my 4x4 coop that is insulated. On a 40 degree night it keeps the entire coop in the 60's. on cooler nights the overall effect is diminished, but the Chicken can lay next to it and be fine. I have mine mounted on the side wall with a baseboard underneath to keep her from leaning into the panel

Regardless of the type of heat mat used, it’s highly highly recommended to not put anything (think substrate) on top/over a heat mat.

I have one in 3 my 4’x2’ closed enclosures in my garage and two in a 4 x4 enclosure outside.

I mount them on the walls and they seem to hold up pretty good but I only have yearlings. You mount them higher if you have bigger torts.

They have a high and low setting and the price is really nice for a 200w heater

I used one of those to build a warming hut for my Redfoot, to extend the days and weeks he could enjoy the outside.

He spent lots of time with just his head, or head and front legs, sticking out of the door I'd made from a car floor mat.
