Could he have eaten some indigestible grass stem or bit of thread of some kind ? This happened to Zola when he was little - it turned out to be a very long grass stem, which eventually all came out. I would try cutting off just the end of it so you can rinse it and check what it is.

That could have been the case.

Thank you Angie. What a relief. He only walks in the garden so it’s almost certainly long grass. The grass I grow in his weed bath is particularly long. I was so worried. I love this forum!

I would suggest you don't try to pull it out - just cut some of what is showing, then do the same tomorrow, and so on until it all comes out Pulling it might hurt him.

Thanks. No I haven’t tried to pull it for that reason. I didn’t know what I was dealing with so I turned to the forum for advice.

You actually can give it a gentle pull. If it moves then keep slowly pulling until it either won't move or is out. Most likely it will come out. No harm will likely ever happen from grass that has already gone thru.
If it were string or something else they shouldn't eat, then I wouldn't pull it. You would have no idea then how long it is or what it could have gotten hung up on.
Either way you want to do it is fine.

When it happened to Zola, we panicked too - and we didn't have this forum to ask for help ! It did come out on its own the next day. Angie

I always gently pull it. I don't want them walking around with that. Its gross, unsanitary, and seems like it would be very uncomfortable.

You didn't ask about pyramiding, but your baby is pyramiding significantly. This is due to overly dry conditions and/or the wrong type of heat lamp. Most of the pet shop advice given and online advice too is wrong. Here is the correct care info, if you are interested:

Every day that goes by does irreparable damage. The sooner you correct the problem, the sooner it can start to get better. Questions are welcome and we are happy to help.

Hello and welcome I would first try and identify what the little dufess ate no matter what. Sapphire tried to eat a pretty piece of yarn once but I was watching. It didn't happen luckily. He's so picky I never in a million years thought he would but he did try.

I think there’s no harm in waiting for a day until she poops. She is pretty regular.
Thank you so much everyone who has replied to me.
Hello - I was wondering whether the stringy thing had totally come out yet - and how Pebbles is getting on.Please don't keep me in suspense !!

Ha ha, thank you Angie for your interest. I left it to come out by itself, which it did the following day. It was a very long piece of grass 😂😂
