Their first bites are of the incubation media while they are still in their egg. You will see them poop it out when they start having bowel movements after 7-10 days. This is why it is crucially important to use the correct incubation media.

Yes, you are correct. I happen to be at the right time on obsevation when the little one emerged from the egg. I then introduced to a moist paper towel and back to the incubator. On day 2 I introduced to fresh mix if greens. I was amazed that it took bites at day 2. First time I havr seen that in the 5 years I have been breeding Egyptians.
