I bought Eleanor already big so we had to build a big enclosure for her but we have a really big screened in porch and a large backyard with a privacy fence. We keep her enclosure in the screened in porch. We also live in central Florida so we can keep her outside. I think it would depend on...
Eleanor was in the middle of her log and a flower pot and was rocking herself back and forth on the flower pot. It was so funny looking. Do they scratch their shells?
Thanks, I'm gonna write this stuff down so I'll remember. I don't think it's gotten to bad yet because yesterday is the first time I've seen nasal discharge. The past week or so she has been out every day so I've been interacting with her alot. I'll let you guys know what the vet says...
I've said Eleanor has been acting different lately. She stayed out of her hide for a day and a half. This was after I truned of the CHE in her hide. Yesterday she had snot bubbles coming out of her nose! I know from reading on this site that this is not good. We have an appt at 2pm today...
Thanks you guys. I guess I'm just not used to seeing her as much as I have in the past couple of days. She has been out all the time lately. I was worried thinking their was something wrong with her hide, but I guess it was just the weather. She was out for almost a day and a half. She even...
Here's a pic it looks like her throat is sticking out it normally doesn't stick out that far when she's breathing? Am I just being paranoid?[hr]
Sure here is a pic of the Oscar...
I bought him froma pet store because someone turned him in, I think he has what they call "hole in the head"...
I just got home and Eleanor is out...its been raining this afternoon and she's usually out when it rains. Anyway she's just sitting there relaxing I guess but she's breathing and her throat is poking out when she breathes kinda like a bull frog. It looks weird...is that normal? I'll try to take...
So its a steady 70 degrees here at night now so I was wondering when should I turn off Eleanors CHE in her hide?
During the day its been in the upper 80's...
Eleanor was out more than I've ever seen her in her enclosure last night. We had some pretty bad thunderstorms last night and this morning. When I came out to feed her she was still out this morning. I was wondering what had her so energetic. Could it be she was scared? I figured if that...
Thanks Everyone for your feedback!! I really rely on you all because I have found that alot of the stuff I read on the internet contradicts itself. It's so confusing, I find myself getting very dicouraged.
I read about everyone else's wonderful experiences with their torts and I feel like...
Can they have Lavender? I have it in her enclosure and it looks like she tried to eat some of it. It was up pretty high so I assumed like a dummy she wouldn't get it but it looks like she pulled it down.
She seems pretty happy in her outdoor enclosure and she even slept outside underneath...
Yes I do plan on keeping her outside at night. I guess that's what I'm wondering, do I turn it on at night while it's cool (58 degrees tonight) and turn it off during the day? I thought the temp in her hide was supposed to be warm. If I take it out at night won't it be 65 degrees? Is that...
I have not been able to take temps today. I will as soon as I get home and let you know what they are. So does everyone who has outside hides during the summer turn off all heating elements? I would assume I would do so, but I'm a newbie?? At what point (temp wise) so you turn them off?
She isn't blind but she is deaf. It makes for very interesting ways of communication:P I picked Eleanor because I needed and "E" name to match with Ebenezer. I name him because he is very grumpy and likes to bite.
