Hello,
I’ve had my Sulcata, Tortilla, for a couple years now. It gets cold at night in the winter in Phoenix, so I have a heat lamp in his outdoor burrow (he lives in the backyard.)
I’m not sure if he’s too big now or what, but randomly we saw this on the poor guy’s bum and I’m devastated...
My sulcata escaped about 6 months ago. Someone sent me this photo today of potentially our tortoise. Looks about the same size… however, the shell is now very deformed. What could have caused this? Is it possible this deformity happened in the last 6 months?
(Mine is in the pool and the found...
Hello, I'm just in a low spot at the moment with how the economy is and in-between jobs.
I came across this beautiful baby tortoise and his neck is swollen and nose is runny. I've called every vet around me and only one place can take him, and it's hundreds of dollars. I don't want him to die...
Hey guys , it seems like extra growth or a swollen bone on the Sulcata baby . He is eating and pooping well but it looks like he is suffering to walk. Pls help
Have owned my sulcata since he was a baby. Now 7yrs old. Is this a good size for 7yrs or should it be bigger? Also can anyone tell if its male or female?
Hello
My female sulcata is looking for places to dig to find a good place to lay. Last time she did this, we were lucky it was summer and she had lots of space outside. Now it is miserably cold and she cannot be left out. Has anyone gone through this? If so how did you solve this? Large stock...
Hello. I have been dealing with some health issues for my Sulcata female tortoise. She is 6 years old and has come down with an URI. The vet said he thinks it may be fungal infection as well, due to signs and to a dark brown debris inside her mouth. The debris coats the inside edges of the mouth...
So I am brand new to this forum as I am planning on getting a baby Sulcata in the next couple of months. I have been browsing the forums and absorbing as much as I can. I live in upstate Ny and have a good amount of property (own 6 acres but have surrounding woods all around it.) I have a...
Hi! We are about to *hopefully* purchase a baby Sulcata. I have scoured books and the internet to make sure this is something we undoubtedly want to commit to due to their size and life expectancy, and we (myself, husband, and children) are all in. We have the space for an outdoor enclosure when...
Hello all,
I have an 8 year old rescue who is probably around 24 inches, this is his first winter with us. His house is kept at 85 degrees and he has the option to come out during the day though he is locked up at night. He soaks regularly. In November, I noticed he was wheezing, no discharge...
Just thought I’d post an update on Raffy my Sulcata tort…. from what I know and see and how he acts and eats He’s in great health and I’m hoping his shell is okay looking.
Hi guys, I noticed an unusual mark on my sulcata's shell. It was only one mark, I checked on other places but found nothing. I soak him every morning for 30 minutes, he's almost 1 year old. The enclosure temperature and humidity are normal (closed enclosure; temperature 30-33', with a cool spot...
Hey guys , I have observed he has lost a part of his beak , should I be concerned?
He is eating , pooping well . Has jumped from 150g to 165g last month .
He lives in a controlled indoor enclosure with Arcadia 75W uva lamp , ambient temp being 85F and 90% humidity .
He gets outdoor time of 3...
I noticed this the other day on my tortoise. I honestly thought he got to rubbing against the house or something. Is this fungus? And if so how do I treat it?
Hello again. Me, still planning for my Giant Tortoise House Carpentry Project 2025™, I am still searching for the best hardware/supplies, so yet again I turn to the tortoise experts/nerds (whatever you prefer to be referred as). I am still thinking & deciding for any UV equipment for my 8 year...
Hi Everyone! I’m new here and I need a little advice.
I’ve had my sully since he was a hatchling and he’s approaching 5 years old and has never had any health problems before now. A couple of weeks ago I noticed he was walking a bit strange, almost like he had hurt his leg or something. There’s...
I'm a big idea guy. Lots of things come to my mind. I've had this thought for awhile so I figured it'd be best to put it up to the experts. Some may think of it as a stupid question/idea, but to me there is no such thing as a stupid, or too crazy idea. I'm a homesteader. I keep mostly...
So two days ago my wife and I came across a store that had sulcatta tortoises. The one we took home was very adventurous and loved climbing the little half log in his tank with his siblings. We took him home and named him Kenny. Got him his own tank, heat lamp which gets turned on/off in 12hr...
My tort never used the actual cuttle bones but I just got a green tortoise block and he loves it! I usually sprinkle his food twice per week, should I still be doing that or can I stop buying supplements and just let him chomp his block when he feels like it?
About Mort the tort:
He is about 1...
Hey all!
I have a question for the permanent tortoise house I am planning on constructing next spring/summer. Where I live, nighttime temps at the coldest part of the year are around the 30°Fs, and I was wondering if anyone knew what thickness/best insulation would be for my tortoise house to...
