Mapimi tortoise!
I really like this species, the other day i watched a documentary about this tortoises, I didn't know about them.

They walk pretty fast and they are vulnerable species. I guess nobody can raise or breed this tortoise.

They're federally protected in the United States. Also protected in Mexico too. To legally posses them in the US you must have valid and documented pre endangered species act specimens if that's not the case then you must possess an endangered species permit to obtain newly hatched or gifted specimens. They are a very cool species though.

How endangered are they? And is there any current breeding programs for them?

They're in the vulnerable sub-level, in the threatened level.

I read somewhere that is a breeding and rewilding active programs in the zone, and move a few tortoise to Arizona, so they can breed them there too.
