Any incandescent (not soft white) or halogen lamps will work to produce basking heat. Wattage and mounting distance required will vary based on the ambient room temperature, the type of lamp being used and the area to be heated. For a hatchling size Hermann's and other Northern Mediterranean species a desired basking temperature range is 90-95 degrees. Temperature should be measured at the substrate directly below the center of the light beam after the light has been on approximately 1 hour. UVB lighting can be provided by tube type fluorescent lamps. Arcadia and Reptisun brands both make excellent products. The UVB output should be 10.0. Or a UV output of 290-310 nm.
