This is a update on my burmese stars that have been growing since very small babies had them almost a year was wondering if anyone could tell male or female scutes look exactly the same but one has always been and growing fast than the other i got them early on my tortises journey when I first started getting them other than my sulcata and he is 5 pounds since my last post of him
Also was wondering
Pyramiding wise are they doing good some I see on morph market they say are 8 months etc are super bumpy and mine are atleast a year old now and don't look anywhere near that bumpy which means I'm a good tortise keep I suppose thank you let me know what you guys think
If you could tell sex at all I would love to have a female ans male so didn't know if I should add another if these are not mates one day but they are My forever pets

The growth difference ur seeing could be do to keeping in pairs, they’re are not as territorial as other torts but in pairs one can bully the other and safer in groups of 3 or more. As far as sexing they are still to small to sex. The pyramiding is do to lack of humidity but even with 80+ humidity i notice they can still get some slight pyramiding. I would separate them and I bet u will see the smaller start growing more. P.S in my experience i have seen some slow growth at the beginning . Good luck! Hope this helps

I couldn't sex mine until they were around 20 months old.

Its a mistake keeping them in a pair. You are seeing the effects in that vastly different growth rate. This is not good.

I have been wanting to get another cause you have told me many times no pairs but when I had first bought them didn't know that but now the quarantine with the new one I don't have another enclosure so I'm worried to get 1 more to make 3
However I am gonna get a new pvc enclosure soon for them to keep humidity High all the time and a mist system want to sell me one more star seriously this time if you have any
Thank you
I usually feed the little one first since you guy is have said they get territorial

If you can't add more, then the solution is to house these two separately. Letting them continue this way is not good for them.

If I were to get one more how long would I need to keep separate cause I want them to be together and I lt would be alot easier setting up one mister and High humid enclosure than 2 I've done my best with honestly a shitty not professional set up keeping it humid

Every vet and keeper will recommend something different for length of quarantine. I've seen as short as 3 months and as long as 12 months. Its not just length of time. Its also observing their behavior appetite and growth, and getting fecals done. Even with all this, there is still some risk. I recommend buying from a source you trust, quarantining for whatever length of time you are comfortable with, and then going for it. It is never 0% risk. Even with quarantine, it is still a risk.
