Burnt or rott?

Hello, is this shell rott or burn from the light??

Shell rot happens on the bottom shell.
So it would be a burn except I don't see that either. I don't see anything wrong with the shell.

As mentioned rot is normally underneath. I would say burn would be top scute and this is on the side. It looks like ware and tear. Please can you check the enclosure if there is a low hide entrance or exit that it is bashing /rubbing against ?

I don't see any problem. What is the basking temperature at tortoise shell height directly under the heat lamp? What type of heat lamp are you using?
