In my new cage there will be 3 hides at least. A plant pot, a half log, and a built in burrow. In the pot I will have aspen to dig in, the log will have the normal substrate (coir and sand) and the built in one I need help with, it will be 12" wide and 18" long, and have an opening at one end. Any ideas or suggestions???

Just build a simple one using boards, 3 boarded two on the sides one on top, even can make one side smaller so it slops. Not to hard to do.

For your third burrow, could you cut a five gallon bucket in half and lay that down like a half log and bury it?

As a side note, I recommend against aspen or any sand as a substrate. Aspen is too dry and sand can cause skin and eye irritation as well as impaction. There are many better alternatives like orchid bark, coco chips or coir, cypress mulch, plain soil and even good ol' yard dirt, if you have the right type.

Just to clarify, when I said coco chips, I mean the same exact stuff as the coir, ground coconut husks, but just a coarser grade. Not the toxic landscaping stuff sold at hardware stores.

Thanks to my proof reader.

I use the plastic flower pots cut in half also. One of mine I also cut the bottom off of (so they can dig farther back) and just cut a section of the bottom off.
