I just got my baby golden greek and one thing I am not sure of is should I dust her food with calcium powder everyday or just a couple days a week? I am using the Rep-Cal Phosphorous free with Vit. D-3. I am keeping her indoors. Also, I have heard from some people that there cages should be dry and just have a moist hide they can get in if they want and then heard that the cage should be moist when they're babies. The whole cage humidity stays around 50-60%, with exception of the hot side is usually around 30-40%. I haven't sprayed her cage yet, it just stays at that humidity. Thanks!

Hi....I don't use calcium supplement on my guys (they eat all kinda stuff outside as well as a few cactus pads and are outside during desert tortoise season) but I have read that folks seem to give them that powder at least 3-4 times per week ....

I would say give it a little and some other folks here will come in and give you what they do which will be helpful for you to then decide what works best for you and your tortoise....
:D

How big is your baby?
I use cuttlefish, its pure calcium, mine bite on it when ever they want, even my babies have a go.
If yours doesn't take any notice of it dust the food every 48 hours.
I never supply vitamins as long as they have a correct and varied diet then there is no need.
I wouldn't put a hide in the damp area! Also the humidity is about right for
Greeks.

Take into account that they hatch during the driest time of the year, especially here in Spain, the outside humidity is between 50 and 60%.

She is about 12 grams, maybe 1.5-2 inches long. I do have a cuttlebone in her cage, I haven't seen signs of her eating it though; probably because I have dusting her food everyday. I will cut back though and do it every other day maybe? Here is a photo of her, my girlfriend was feeding her.

I hand feed my baby Greek and Hermanns. I think its easier for them to eat that way. I do it untill they lose interest in eating whats in my hand then I just leave it in their food dish for them to go back to it when hungry again. I guess by doing that I know they at least ate something that day so I'm not so worried. Seems like thats what your girlfriend is doing in the picture. Cute Greek btw. GL.
