Massive devastation in Pasadena/Altadena area and Palisades/Malibu inching into Santa Monica. There's also a fire up in Santa Clarita, but hopefully @Tom is Ok up there, and @Renee_H in Glendora I'm definitely concerned about.

I'm sure there are other members here, there are LOTS of tortoise owners in the malibu and Pasadena areas.

Videos are like from a horror movie.

Most people I know who lost power now have it back (the winds have died down hopefully for good). Now that the winds are gone the smoke is thick as a board, but I'd rather have the smoke than the winds...

The videos I’m seen truly are like a horror movie as you’ve said. Hopefully when Tom and Renee have the time, they will let us know they’re safe.

Good news! Our family friend in Alta Dena told us this morning that out of all of the houses in his neighborhood, all but seven burned. His was one of the seven. I don't know what that neighborhood will be like for the next couple of years, but at least his house was spared.

Our other friend in the Pallisades has not been able to go see yet, but her house was in one of the burn areas. We are hoping for the best when they let people back in to the neighborhood.

Winds are still high up here, but there are no fires near me and the wind is blowing any smoke from the other fires away from us. I say again, if it wasn't for the news and conversations like this, I wouldn't even know there was a fire anywhere. I went up and over the grapevine today with my hawks and hunted in Bakersfield. No wind and no fire at all over there. We bagged two jacks and put feet on a third, but it bucked my female off and got away.

One of my friends that works for me always has her power shut off when the winds pick up. Usually for at least two or three days at a time. She just runs a generator now, so it has minimal effect other than the unpleasant noise and exhaust from all the generators in her area.

I have generators at the ready, but haven't needed them yet. I loan them to other friends who are less prepared.

I’m glad you are safe and that your family friend’s home was spared!! Hopefully your other friend’s home is safe too.
