It'd be best to keep them separate. Young turtles can easily be mistaken for food by larger adult turtles and can become injured or die if an adult turtle tries to eat them.

How big should they be before I put in with other turtles?

I'd say when the turtle reaches about 3.5 inches in straight carapace length (SCL). At this point the turtle is close enough in size to the adult box turtles (usually 4-6 inches in SCL), so they're out of the danger zone for being fatally injured.
