So when I was talking with the new guys cutting my lawn. Opo was in his enclosure but I wanted to show them what he looked like. One of the guys was telling me he has a DT about 25 years old. He said he rescued him when he lived in California. I thought that a DT couldn't leave California. It doesn't concern me, actually if he is skirting the law. More power to him.😁

That's great . He understands totally 👍 🤗. I'm not sure but I think I read that it's not illegal to move with your documented tortoise to another state. I'm glad you found them.🤗😁

That’s what i was thinking. Kind of like that cloud of toxic smoke (vinyl chloride & hydrochloric acid) from East Palestine, Ohio that is drifting Easterly our way. Many fish, reptiles & mammals have already succumbed.
That's terrible!
How did an environmental disaster like that happen?

Good morning/afternoon all,
It's a cold, wet day here - too nasty to release my butterflies.
Looks like they are Small Tortoiseshells rather than Red Admirals.
The second awoke today so he's chilling in my fridge to calm down.
Not a lot happening in my world today but I hope all is well in yours.

Actually, it IS illegal. The tortoises belong to the state, not the caregiver.
Oh. That's good to know. I thought some are grandfathered in. Not that I would take one out of the wild. Here in Ohio with box turtles you are not supposed to but it's more illegal to release them after they've been in captivity 30 days.

It is terrible. It was a train derailment. It was a "controlled" release to avoid a huge explosion. Since there was only 20 cars with hazardous materials they were allowed and legal. It's so wrong. I've seen news reports that said one of the cars had fire coming from one of it's wheels miles before and it could have been avoided.🤬

Well... Today I took Joe's car in for repair and it turned into a really uplifting experience. I had to take a ride home with a young lady that works there and that's part of her job. I don't know how we even got on the subject. It wasn't me 🤣 that instigated it. She was telling me that in a little village near us people are establishing a Crane sanctuary. Go figure!😊 Ohio has Sand Hill cranes. They started coming back around 1985 or so says Google. It's just wild how conversation can go. Of course I had to tell her about the white pelicans I saw behind the mall in our town.😊 and some history.🤗

"Grandfathered" only means you don't have to have had a permit for them.

To those familiar with lithium batteries that operate garden implements:

My strimmer, string trimmer, takes a 40v lithium battery, of which I have five and three chargers. I understand, and know that you have to put a COLD battery on the charger in order for the charger to work, and I've learned it also works best to allow the charger to be cold before you attempt to charge a battery. Lately my chargers start out flashing green but when I go back later, they're blinking red. Anybody have any words of wisdom for me about these temperamental lithium batteries and chargers? It's gotten so bad lately that I ordered two new batteries and a new charger from my friend, Amazon.

This indicates a new pattern, what did they do before Y ?

& are they charged after the green cycle?

I don't know any more than anyone else....but for reference;

My Worx 56V flashes green while charging them steady red when charged.

My "green" 48V stuff flashes green while charging then flashes red when complete

Kerry's Black & Decker stuff flashes green while charging then steady green when charged.

We had a similar problem in 2020 when a train derailed and leaked fuel into the soil and waterways which in turn has affected part of the coast where cockle and mussel fisheries are a big industry and they were hit hard. They're still trying to remove contaminated soil but doubt they'll clear all of it. They've just said that no one will be held accountable for the environmental damage.

That's good, I hope they haven't been too badly affected by the pollution.

When I have problems with anything I try to find an online instruction manual if I can't find a paper one that came with it. Google often finds something if you type in the make and model etc. That may have a 'troubleshooting' guide. Or alternatively try to phone/email the company that makes them to ask their customer services for advice.

Good morning all, it's wet and dreary here with some high winds coming in tonight.
It's been pretty calm lately though so can't complain.
I'd better go and get Lola's breakfast ready - not that he'll surface much before mid day but it will be ready and waiting for him.
See you later!
