I don't know bout the 20 cars...maybe just 20 had chems?

CBS:
When Norfolk Southern train 32N derailed in Ohio earlier this month, it was not the first time it had experienced problems on the route.
The train, which originated from Madison, Illinois, on the evening of Feb. 1, broke down at least once before derailing in East Palestine, Ohio, on Feb. 3, according to employees familiar with the matter.
The employees say there were concerns among those working on the train over what they believed was the train's excessive length and weight — 151 cars, 9,300 feet long, 18,000 tons — before it reached East Palestine, which contributed to both the initial breakdown and the derailment.

Just a very sad mess and I hope the folks there are made whole again.....

This indicates a new pattern, what did they do before Y ?

& are they charged after the green cycle?

I don't know any more than anyone else....but for reference;

My Worx 56V flashes green while charging them steady red when charged.

My "green" 48V stuff flashes green while charging then flashes red when complete

Kerry's Black & Decker stuff flashes green while charging then steady green when charged.
They flash green while charging and steady green when charged. I've only ever had trouble getting them charged if I try to put a hot/warm battery on the charger, or a cold battery on a charger that just finished charging a battery (hot charger). As long as I paid attention to the hot thing it has worked fine for a couple seasons.

Yes to all. I had to sit in my car and watch a train go by me lately. It might be a couple of miles away. By the time I started counting I got at least 100 cars go by me,( way more) right in front of me. It seemed like it took forever. I've never watched a train that long ever. Now I wonder what it was carrying too.

To those familiar with lithium batteries that operate garden implements:

My strimmer, string trimmer, takes a 40v lithium battery, of which I have five and three chargers. I understand, and know that you have to put a COLD battery on the charger in order for the charger to work, and I've learned it also works best to allow the charger to be cold before you attempt to charge a battery. Lately my chargers start out flashing green but when I go back later, they're blinking red. Anybody have any words of wisdom for me about these temperamental lithium batteries and chargers? It's gotten so bad lately that I ordered two new batteries and a new charger from my friend, Amazon.
Maybe the batteries have worn out. If you've used them a lot. Maybe.🤔 The chargers could still be good though.

It is a good idea to let the battery cool down before charging.
Are you having a problem with one certain battery or one of the chargers?

That's happened with my cordless Dyson stick vacuum. It's only 8 years old but they've stopped making the batteries for that model now so while the rest of it is fine - it's useless! I don't think 8 years is that old especially when it wasn't my main cleaner. They don't make things to last these days!:(

That's crazy they still don't offer batteries for the vacuum.

Someone just recently told me that old batteries can be refurbished. There's a store in Fredericksburg Virginia, I believe it's called Batteries Plus that does it. I personally haven't tried it yet but plan on having some rebuilt because I collect old tools and have some old battery powered tools I'd like to be able use. Maybe some place near you can make your old batteries reusable again.

Seems like lately it's all of the batteries and chargers.

I'm a plumber, not an electrician by a long shot but, a CLEAN pencil eraser can clean the contacts of a battery at the tool and the battery.

A couple of points;

1. I greatly underestimate how long I have had things. I will say, "I got that a couple years ago" and kerry will chime in that "No, you had that when we met 11 years ago"
2. Batteries suck, they have sucked my entire life and continue to suck. Can you imagine if we bought milk in containers where we couldn't tell how much was left?
3. Anything that caused ALL Bats and chrgrs to act differently might be related to a global issue in your home. A blown GFI receptacle can do some weird stuff in the remaining circuits in a home. Resetting them will fix things.

Lastly, take a charger and worn batt to a friends home for a couple hours and charge it...yeah it's a weird request when you call them to ask, but we're older, we don't get embarrassed easily. LOL

Good luck.....Y....

Most of the cells or pouch cells are standards sizes in that industry Len, it just takes opening the existing battery pack to see what the solution(method) they used. A soldering gun can be your friend to remove what you have.

Be careful buying, MOST cells out there are junk depending on the configuration. A 18650 cell should weigh approx 46gms.................a lot of them have fillers. Take your time to do your research. Most likely you are looking at old Nicads.....I'd call that place and see what they charge......then I'd be sure to post that info here so my friends could see.....that's what I'd do....LOL

Lazy, rainy slow day at work today.....

Not likely to get too much done outside this weekend, as I don't like working in 29F temps!

Maybe I'll drag the wood inside the shed so I can cut and fab my ramps. I could prob finish insulating it and put a little heater in there to take the chill off.

Losing Faith;
We have a new guy at work, to make delivery's to our projects, receive and store equipment as it comes to our shop....that kind of stuff. He's a reasonably nice guy, prob around 25 or so. I watched him Wed trying to remove screws from a sheet of plywood, with the drill going in the wrong direction! I saw this and stopped my bid and went out to spend a few minutes working with him....it was his first week and maybe he's just nervous. He was very frustrated and was apparently having a "murphy's law" day like we all do sometimes. I told him the best piece of advice I ever got; "Stay cool in the head and remain flexible" Afterwards I told the owner that he should be restricted from using any power tools. He really had no grasp at all how to use any of them. He could easily get hurt if he ever picked up say, a circular saw! I later spoke to our Supt and he told me the guy didn't know how to shift gears in our Box truck. 3 spd auto on the column and he was stuck so bad that Mr Supt had to return to the shop to show him how to put it in gear.

LOL......We had a guy last week who had been here 6 months and was EXCELLENT! He got everything done, cleaned up all the time....the place never looked so good. Then the boss yelled at him last Weds.....and he couldn't handle it.....he stopped showing up. Really? Are they that soft now?

......it's all good, there's a place for everyone, just not sure the new kid has found that place yet! LOL

That's a thought. I never considered it might be the connection between the battery and the charger. I'll take a bit of emory cloth to each and see how that affects it. Thanks.

Was over at Kerry's and got a call at 3:30 this morning. My daughter called to tell me we had water....LOTS OF WATER!
The lower level had standing water so I coached her how to shut off the water w/o touching anything else.

I got my hair cut at 8, then we came over.
What a mess! Not knowing if it was a Shopvac event that I would handle or an ERIE insurance event, I walked downstairs and splashed onto the carpet about 3 steps b4 calling my ins co. A plumbing check valve broke. The restoration guys showed up before noon and been here since. They are amazing! I replaced the valve so we have water and the restoration guys have water.

Kerry is napping in my room while I putter....

Life lesson...stay cool and be flexible....lol

Daughter was VERY happy I was not upset since she had to work today.

On the upside, the Pit of Despair is getting gutted! Lol

I had a friend of mine with no carpenter skills. Hired on a crew building houses. The foreman told him to start bringing 8' 2x4s over to a certain area. After awhile the2 foreman came looking for him. He was at the pallet of 2x4s and the foreman said what are you doing. My buddy said I can't find any 2x4s. They are all 1 1/2" x 3 1/2". That was his first strike his second strike was carrying 1 board at a time. He lasted a week.

Aw he was just being thorough. Not knowing that the measurements weren't exact and that 2 x 4s could be smaller I think I may have done the same myself!o_O

Good afternoon/evening all,
It was very wet and windy here last night and grey and cold today. Not many signs of spring about yet. There's talk from the Met Office of the possibility of a Beast from the East rearing its head and heading our way thanks to a sudden stratospheric warming event (SSW). It seems it can upset the weather but they don't know how yet. Hopefully nothing too drastic we'll know in the next few weeks.
I hope everyone is having a good weekend.

How are you getting on without Rose and Nanay, Ray?
I hope Opo is behaving for you.
