Well Rose got home Thursday and started to feeling ill. Sore throat, body aches, low grade fever and migraines. She took a covid test 2 days in a row with negative results. Had a doctors appointment today and was diagnosed with a virile infection.
Prescribed Z-Pac of antibiotics and another med. I think I am starting to come down with it now. I will just gargle with hydrogen peroxide and take Ibuprofen. I try not to take antibiotics. I think doctors prescribe them to often. I feel if you take the antibiotics to much, they become ineffective.
Well what I can't understand is why they would prescribe Rose an antibiotic for a viral infection unless she has a secondary infection from the virus. I agree with you. They do over prescribe antibiotics. But if you have to take one, a Z-Pac is nice especially since it's the one that does me best too.🙏🤗

Sorry to hear bout Rose, and that you aren't feeling well buddy....that's not quite the welcome home you guys envisioned! Hope you guys both kick it quickly! Kerry is going to be at her daughters apt near the Palmer college in the Port Orange area. Her dad went down as the snow fell in NY a week or so ago but he's in Port St. Lucie and that's a way down there so I don't know that she'll have time.

Yes, the shed is a "motorcycle shop with storage for 6 bikes I think". All the yard stuff fits in the other shed so we aren't going to upset the balance of "power". LOL

The docs here won't give antibiotics for viral infections - only bacterial. They say they don't work for viruses and reduces the efficiency of them when they are needed so you are right to avoid them if you can. Wrap up warm; paracetamol is good for high temps and aches (may be called something else in US) and take care of yourselves.

Good morning all,
The snow arrived in the night and at last my garden looks as good as all the other gardens in the neighbourhood!😄 I've been out to feed my birds who were all patiently waiting while I cleared the snow off their table.
We've had about 4 inches so far but big flakes are still falling and will continue to do so for the rest of the day. All the schools are closed but the main roads are useable - just a bit slushy. It won't last long though when the rain arrives - icy roads will be the main problem then until temps rise.
I was supposed to be having a hair cut today but the hair dresser lives much further up the valley and was snowed in, so I'll have to wait a little longer!
I hope the weather is much better where you are - have a good day!

Just gone 7 pm here and still snowing. Temps right down to 33F but with wind chill feeling like low 20sF, Snow and ice warnings in place again - it's a very chilly Spring night! I feel sorry for those poor nesting birds. 🥶

Never thought if that before, thanks L for the perspective.....all yards are "equal", when it snows! I'll bet the birds were all very excited to see you come out. EASY MEALS for all!

Ms Cathie, there goes your "yard shaming", you just need snow! LOL
Oh no I don't! But on second thought 🤔 it will be a perfect excuse for sitting on the couch watching birds 😜

This was a fun day.....
I visited what I had been told was a "dark site" today for work in Urbana, MD. It turned out to be a no-longer-classified ATT site now. Used to be "dark site" for Army I'm guessing from the construct. So, not really sure why I was there other than "our new friends" might not like their old friends(my competition). I usually don't get involved in "normal" stuff but this one was fun.

The gist of the work is they want us to clean out 5 air shafts, and dewater them. These aren't the 20' deep variety we all see on the sidewalks next to buildings and schools with those big grates on them, no.....these are the 110 feet deep variety built by our US Gov, to the highest tech at the time, with an open wallet! Just getting to the work can cost them thousands of dollars now.

It took me 2 hrs to get there with DC beltway traffic. I checked on google....I could have driven to the Balt beltway and it only would have taken 6 more minutes!

It went like this;

Once we hit the lower level on one of the largest elevator cars known to man......

"Your work is in there, behind the 10" steel blast door". My escort from the management firm running the property says as he tries to open said door while the "Supt" stands there in her awful cute 22 year old self, skinny-jeans, size 7 sneakers, a teaser jacket built for speed, not warmth...she looked more like JB than a "supt".

Anyway, little, but powerfully built guy is leaning into this door with heart so I join him and the door opens, I walk onto a grate suspended 35 feet in the air. "Down there" he says as he points to this "pit of black death" LOL

At least the other portion of the project has "removable" 1500lb steel plates bolted to the wall for access to the base of the 4 shafts, 105 feet below the surface.

dang, I type too much....good times though and home by 1pm!

Thankfully the snow seems to have stopped, I'm hoping it will rain in the night and wash all the white stuff away - just the ice to deal with then 🧊 - I prefer mine in a G&T!!

Rose is getting worse, but I am sure it's the progression of the illness.
I researched viral infections and you all were right. Antibiotics are not a treatment. When I go see my doctor this month. I will question her about the situation.
Rose's throat is sore and she has lost her voice. I am monitoring her oxygen saturation to keep a eye on her lungs. If she doesn't show improvement soon. I will be calling the doctors office.

So sorry to hear this Ray. Gargling with salt water may help with the throat and plenty of fluids. If she has white spots on her tonsils the antibiotics may help. I hope she soon turns the corner and starts to get better. Maybe give the doctor a ring anyway to see what they suggest. Get well soon Rose!
Have you been OK Ray since you were feeling ill too?

Good morning all,
There's still lots of snow around on the hills and rooftops but it has rained and the roads and pavements seem clear. I haven't ventured out yet so don't know if the ice is still lurking waiting to make some unsuspecting person slip.
Thursday already - I hope everyone has a good day.

Mr J - were you up there in vicinity of the now decommissioned Ft Ritchie? Ive had a few visits to a few locations there, used to be the loc of the Alternate National Military Command and Control Center. (ANMCC). The real permanent NMCC is in the Pentagon of course. Lots of interesting spaces up there on the PA border with MD.

Rose is still the same, no voice and persistent cough. I have her gargling with water and hydrogen peroxide. I will check the back of her throat. Oxygen saturation is good. I think I am the worst I am going to get. I feel a little better today.

I'm of course sorry to hear your sweetheart is still ill.....but if I may....a wife w/o a voice is a bad thing? Jus askin....lol
O2 levels and lot of hydration.....

Not as far as Cascade Mark, where Ft Ritchie was but I had figured you for Ret Mil.....so I wasn't far off! You were at Raven Rock? Been there a couple times for work in the two powerplants on either end of the Alphabet buildings.
Yes, over the past 40 some years I've been lucky enough to be involved with some cool projects in some very cool buildings!
