Good morning everyone!

Today is actually VE Day and I am going to be thinking of Great-uncle Alex but I will also think of dad's uncles on the Burmese railway and his mum who passed away from TB in 1945.

Are you guys teasing me over my spelling or have you really never heard of:
"The man from Nantucket"

LOL....no Y, im not going to finish it so you can relax.

I slept over 6 hours last night! Yay jeff!

On another note.....Kerry and I began repainting one of the sheds. It's a good size at 16x12. As I dragged one of the ladders around the building I told Kerry....." "When I bought these ladders, they were light"

No one under 60 will get that right away...

Enjoy the day guys and glad to hear so many remember VE day!

Yes Jeff what's a limerick?🤔
Limericks are 5 line poems with the lines 1,2 and 5 rhyming and lines 3 and 4 rhyming. Eg -
There once was a tortoise called Lola
Who hates the cold temps when they're polar
He said it's not nice
When your water is ice
You can keep that to stick in your cola.

There was a young lady from Leeds...
who couldn't fulfill her needs. ..
she got her a tortoise...
and put out a notice...

Finish it any way you want, but they're usually risque
A limerick, a limerick,
Yvonne and Jeff are collaborating together,
We haven't got a clue what they're talking about,
But they are collaborating together.

I thought Limerick was a city but now I remember hearing about those poems!
Yes, there is a place called Limerick in Ireland so you're not wrong.

I think Jeff was thinking of a tongue twister, like 'She sells sea shells on the sea shore' which is quite hard to say quickly.

Good morning everyone!

Lyn I will be watching the VE day flypast on the cliffs at 1.45 pm today. I will think of my Uncle Alan who was killed in Italy but I will also think of nana when she used to take mum as a baby to the cliffs to see the Germans coming up the Thames before they were evacuated to Rayleigh when Southend used to try and stop them.

WWII. I never knew my great grandparents, because they were killed in a war. I never knew a lot of my relatives because of the same reason.....

We saw the darnest thing yesterday in the back yard. We saw two Bald Eagles swoop in and land and then BOTH were driven away by a single Crow. I would have thought the eagles would have worked together since they were a mated pair but nope....they wussed!

LOL

I wonder if it was the Crow that I've been feeding for a couple weeks?

I've had a wonderful bird thing happening to me too today. Chicadees are about my all time favorite little bird. I just love them! I heard a bunch of little twitters today out my back screen door so I went to look. A nest is now empty of little 🐥 🍼 and I have proof. ( Please don't look at the mess. I'm trying to spring clean and it was get the picture or lose it) IMG_20250509_185917522_HDR.jpgIMG_20250509_185908338.jpg

One little one landed on my screen door and stayed there watching me watching and getting pictures. I was absolutely thrilled to pieces. It's one of those animal encounters that will be forever etched in my mind. I'm blessed.

My nasty neighbours are raging war on my birds again ☹️.
They haven't said anything directly to me but when I went out about 9 pm to put the feeders away and sweep up any fallen food, the man said in an exaggerated, loud voice to make sure I heard ' she's sweeping up the bird s..t, I'm going to get a f...ing bird scarer tomorrow.' This is the same man who reported me for using an ultrasonic cat scarer last year! I've yet to see if it materialises. Pity you can't buy horrible people scarers. 🧨

Oh how horrible! I'm so sorry you have to put up with this Lyn. I still hear my neighbours but so far not as much as I did and I seem to get on with them. I think you should take photos and record this.

Good morning all.
Our bright dry weather continues -we really could do with some good rainfall now.
The painting of one of my rooms is still ongoing, my nephew helped me move some furniture yesterday so I can continue working my way around the walls.
Apart from that nothing special planned. I hope everyone has a good weekend.

I'm pleased things are a bit quieter for you Natrah. My neighbours have a high fence so I can't see them, they just make sure I can hear them..☹️
I don't know what sort of a bird scarer he's thinking of. The farmers use things that sound like guns, which will upset a lot of neighbours and if he gets an ultrasonic model, that's making nonsense of his complaint last year since only they (along with the other animals) can hear ultrasonic sounds.
They have erected what looks like a huge harem tent that covers half their garden, so I've got a whole summer of them and their jibes to look forward to. ☹️ Hopefully we'll have plenty of rain!!

Funny thing all of my gardening chores were lighter back then. We bought a “Gorilla” wagon. to help maneuver things around the garden & garage. A lot easier & lighter.
