Wow 99F near the bridge MG? That's hot for the bay area isn't it? I took my daughter there in 2012 for 2 weeks when she was 13. We did the pier, Redwood Park south of the city and I bought scalped tickets to The Rock....neat place. The museum at the GG bridge was cool too. Who knew?

FT reminded me....i heard the 1st goose of the season today and yes a lot of the plants are retreating. We saw it on the waters edge too today when we took the little kayaks out. We saw 3 total turtles...all Red Ears in the brackish water. No sign of the Terripen I let go here a few weeks back. Here's 1 of the red ears

Changed the oil in the car, topped up WW fluid and that's about it...it checks it's own tire pressures. It's ready for a ROAD TRIP! Tomorrow we pack!
Well I live a lil north of the Gate on the other side of the bay, SF today is 76° which is HOT in the city. It's 102° here in the shade in my back yard, and 80° in the house. Fur babies are crashing in the family room. I'm the one not smart enough to come in out of the heat...Spending the day cutting out a lethal cactus, thorns are 1" (25mm) to 2.25" (65mm) long. This cactus just got away from me, so now it's stumped.
There are fires going on bout 50mi north of me, and I'm sure those poor firefighters are in sweltering heat wearing their equipment. A thankless job! Pray for them.20250831_150901.jpg20250831_120735.jpg20250831_121238(0).jpg

I do feel better. My lungs feel even better than I was doing before I came down with shingles. I think the anti virals have cleared up some old viral problems too. I'm still irritated by the skin issues and my ear but I'm on my way up. Yeah 👍 👍 👍
That's great news, too bad you had to go through shingles to get easier breathing.

Interesting huh. My lung doctor wanted me to go through a lung cleanse where he washes out your lungs because of all this and past infections. I was scheduled for September 5th to be under anesthesia and do it and decided nope. I can't do anymore. It's time for me to just get well from the medication bombardment on an 80lb woman let alone the shingles.so I'm thankful.

We had guests today from China! Annie, a former exchange student that stayed with Kerry for school years '14 till she graduated in '16 then socially vanished when she returned to China in '17. We know the social credit system used over there (having a foreign friend is bad, worse if they are Americans) so we just assumed that was why she went dark. Last week she reached out so her and her fiancee came over today for lunch and a walk around our neighborhood.

Good times!

It was fun seeing Annie again. We took her friend Michelle to NYC at Christmas time in 2014 i think. Annie had gone home for the holidays but Michelle was stuck here so we took her with us. She saw Rockefeller Center and the tree of course.

All packed for our trip..well 99% packed. Bikes & Subnados are in the car first, then luggage, edibles, pillows and cooler.

I was teasing Kerry that with 4 women at the home in Maine where we are headed, it's going to be estrogen overload for me but then i remembered the ages of the ladies.....no it won't and that could be worse!! 😆

I won't sleep tonight....its what kids do before a vacation...they can't sleep!

I'm going to show you something very indicative of my relationship with my beautiful wife.
The "developer" is me and the "tester" is Kerry.

It has been very gloomy out here today, with something in between a light drizzle and fog. Some leaves are already turning colors and falling. I also noticed that some dandelions (Edward's favourite food) are already looking very wilted. I have spent the past few weeks trying to keep Edward up and to prevent or at least postpone brumation. He is still eating daily, but sleeping a lot.
Our trees have been losing their leaves since about the end of June. They are in survival mode because it has been so dry and hot this spring and summer, so they shed their leaves to conserve water and direct energy to the roots. It's been sad to see. Thankfully we're getting plenty of rain this week so that will help.

Wash your lungs out!😲 I've never heard of that, I would be worried about the risk of pneumonia if it involves fluid in the lungs. I'm sure it's a routine procedure for your doc though.

Here it has been mostly birches that are yellowing and dropping leaves.

Good morning all, and happy September and start of meteorological Autumn.

I've had a busy couple of days. Sunday afternoon I was out with some of my family for a lovely lunch for my brother in law's birthday then back to their house for birthday cake.
Then yesterday I went out and about looking at cars. My Fiesta is running well at the moment (touch wood) but I need to have a backup plan. I can't believe how big the 'little' cars are these days - even the Minis look as if they've been on steroids. When I think about my first little Mini, now you'd get 2 of them in the back of a newer versions.
My top 3 at the moment are a VW Polo, Renault Clio and a Skoda Fabia. I still have a bit more research to do before I make a decision. Watch this space.

Our car is a Skoda Fabia - it was second-hand when we got it, but not much used, and it has been very reliable and altogether good for years - we look after it, and get anything fixed straight away, but it has had very few problems. Previously, we had a Mini, which was really old when we felt we had to part with it (it ended its days as a vehicle for firemen to practice on !) The Skoda is 18 years old now, and has traveled 220,000 miles, and we have no wish to get a different one.

That Skoda looks like a nice car, I think I like the looks of the Skoda over the Renault and the VW. Was looking at spec's, most have very small engines, which is great for emissions....Lyn, you'll have to send us a picture with what you end up with. Will it be used, or new?
Angie, how'd you find out your old car was used by firemen for practice? Just curious....

I have to schedule 3 Bird Dr. appointments, maybe. All three need Annual Exam and blood work done, but I not sure they all can be done at the same visit w/o everyone freaking out. One of my kids (Josè, a Yellow Naped Amazon) has scissor beak, that need to be dremmeled. I've had him for 10 years now, and he going on 45yrs old, In addition to his scissor beak, he's blind in his left eye, so everything I need to show him, I have to do it on his right side....I take them all to an Avian Specialist (Medical Center For Birds) on the other side of the county. They care for Parrots, Raptors, even chickens and other birds...The heat wave here has subsided, should be a pleasant day. Well, it is bird cage cleaning day, time to toss the poopy papers....Hope you have a wonderful day friends.....

We gave it to the chief mechanic at the garage, who had become a friend, and had even come with us to check out the Skoda before we bought it - his son, who was not old enough to drive, was able to practice driving it round a large field - then, eventually, he gave it to one of the mechanics who was also an emergency fireman, and they were all delighted to be able to use it to practice on - so it had an honourable and worthy end !
