Hi everyone,

I have owned and bred boa constrictors, ball, burmese and reticulated pythons for over 15 years now. However, I always wanted to own a sulcata tortoise. I did my required research into their care, and believe that I can truly accommodate their massive size and longevity. I am accomplished at caring for large reptiles, and have access to world-class reptile veterinarians. I own a house, with a large enclosed yard, and plan on allowing the adult tortoise some range in the backyard during appropriate weather. However, I live in Colorado, and from Oct-Mar the weather will not permit this. I am wondering as to what the most appropriate winter housing is for an adult sulcata. Is an outdoor heated and insulated shed a better alternative to a basement indoor enclosure? Can people from cold weather climates give me some ideas?

Thanks!
