My common snapper has gotten bigger. He's about 6-7 inches, so I moved him into a 55 gallon tank. Was wondering if there's anything else that can actually go inside with him that he won't eat? Or something that can actually help clean the tank. Does anyone have some suggestions?

Not likely. Man, they'll go after pretty much anything that can fit in their mouths, other turtles included. I remember I had a Cory in the tank with my turtles for years.

I figured they'd eat him, but they left him alone. Oneday they just decided he was dinner. Had that fish for 8 years.😂

Best to just leave him alone. Any kind of snail or fish is getting smoked. Even plecos with all their spines.

Not in a 55. It'll eat or kill anything it can. If you can keep them from getting splashed water lettuce or hyacithe with help with your water. Youll get tiny snails that he wont see as worth it.

The tank is nice. I just thought of these new mechanical plastic "frogs" that people can put to "swim" around in the turtle ponds to keep mosquitoes from laying eggs in them. But apparently they are solar powered? And you sure would not want your guy trying to eat it and choking?! He might hate it?! I heard about these gadgets but don't know details.

You could get away with 8 -10 inch water level since snappers can swim if they have to but usually just chill in shallow water on the bottom reaching their necks out for some air. That would make it easier for water changes as well.
