Yvonne "wowwed' my comment about not breeding redfoot tortoises anymore .. on the Marginated post - - so.. this is my current group.

Earlier this summer my "SONshine & Leggs" ( from 2004 ) went on to a new family - which left me with no adult males... 2 ( 2006 } females and 3 juvies.. more on them as we go.

So the idea was to down-size... then down to 5. The current number is 11 !!! 3 new yearlings and 3 new 2016 hatched.

Just got [ 9/07 ] this new "Bolivian" - misted them as is done every morning - so these pics are not real good but they show his colors...

Took a few other pics of him 'in-hand' .. hopefully they show more better...

So 6 Bolivians, 1 known female.
Do you have any idea if the others were bred for females or males?

I doubt the yearlings were because they were reportedly found in the pen of adults. You'll see them shortly. One of them 'might' be.. but that is wishful thinking. One of them also has a split-scute.

As far as the hatchlings.. "most" breeders do not incubate for males because they want them "out-to-sell" ASAP! So doubtful on the 2016.

Great looking little ones. Going to be fun to watch them grow up. Colors are very bright!

Craig - @Anyfoot - asked for the Bolivians.. so here is the earlier 2016.. he is 3" SCL - while "DreamBo is 2.5" SCL.

I decided to use the flash ( for clarity ).. but that always 'washes-out' the colors! So "BigBoBaby" is a darker orange than shows -

Imagine a deeper "burnt-orange" -

Since these "2015" hatched and started outdoors in Florida.. have no idea how old they really are. This one is 5 7/8" SCL and has a split-scute. Again the flash really did the 'white-out' on the colors... these are much darker redfoots!

You can see the 'split-scute' on the rear -

Big juvie ...

"Hopeful" boy is next!
