Hmmm is right. Did you contact him and feel him out? If it is a desert he may not know the laws. I wonder how he ended up with such a young one? I have my suspicions.

I did. I emailed right before posting, just asking what kind of tort it was. He emailed back and confirmed that it is a Desert Tortoise. I just emailed him with info about the laws. Also recommended he come browse TFO and the CTTC's site for more info on laws and care. Hopefully he's receptive to the info!

Yes, I hope so! Especially since he seems to be operating under the guise of a "turtle rescue" (see email address), which implies he might have other turtles/torts under his care.
