Hopefully these pictures come out ok, I have had it for about 2 weeks but wanted to see what you thought of his shell as the breeder kept him on sand and in dry conditions, he's about a year old
He looks to me to be a little pre-pyramided most likely caused by the dry conditions the breeder kept him in. Have no fear, you can help prevent this further by making and using an enclosed humidity habitat for him as described by Tom in the stickies at the top.
On a side note, I would recommend getting a real hydrometer/ temp gauge. The stick on one I see in the one picture are not real reliable.
Thanks for your reply he is kept in a closed humid viv so hopefully that will help, thanks for you advice I will replace the the temp thing for a better one. Hopefully his shell doesn't get any worst scares me with some of the pictures of others I have seen
Yes, he does have pyramiding. As long as everything else is right with him, diet, supplements, the pyramiding will only be a cosmetic thing. If you haven't, read Toms threads below in my post, by my signature.
I have done a lot of research on here so I think I will be able to stop it getting worst but wasn't sure on the signs of it starting, the breeder said his shell would smooth out as he gets bigger, but we will see as long as I do everything to prevent it getting worst
