hi, there is a rope because she likes to dig into bushes. there is a paper marker at the end of the thread, and it helps me track where she is. she uses both her legs when walking! i use hydrotherapy already by making sure she floats a bit in the bath. (yes she floats). i am always with her when she is soaking. Why there is a rope?
I see that nails on the left hind leg are long (but worn out on the right hind leg). Does she use both her legs when walking? Maybe you can add "hydrotherapy" to her soaking routine... I'll search for the guide.
Here we go:
I suspect that Russian tortoises don't float like Leopards or Redfoots, so you need to support your tortoise body or put some sort of pedestal under plastron. *Never leave your tortoise unattended*2010 LEOPARD PADDLES DOESNT WALK HELP
Okay, I purchased/rescued a 2010 female leopard off CL. She is smaller then my male, who was also born 2011. She does have pyramiding, but not horrible. I just got her Friday night. I have her on coconut coir substrate. She hasn't moved since I got her. So this a.m. I put her on plain...tortoiseforum.org

Sounds okay to me. If you weigh her - you should see small weight gain from month to month.how much is a tortoise supposed to eat??!?! i say she eats well, by that i mean, a pretty large handful every day (large by my view because my hands are tiny) and leaves some behind.
sometimes she skips a meal every other day, then i make sure to give her a little bit more the next day and she finishes it. if i hand feed her, she often finishes the whole bowl!
No, I don't think so. As she skips her meals, perhaps she can skip a poop too.she didn't have any urates today! or poo! is something wrong?![]()
ah... i suppose she's picky... haha...No, I don't think so. As she skips her meals, perhaps she can skip a poop too.
Don’t panic, if she’s eaten a little bit of substrate by accident, I’m sure it’ll pass through, if she was purposely eating mouthfuls of it, it’d be a problem, the odd accidental piece won’t do major harm! Just keep up with the soaks and see if she passes any in the coming weekstoday i noticed that she dragged her lettuce out into the substrate (usually she eats on the slate)! is there a chance she ate it??? what should i do??![]()
