she's dragging a bit less... i think
ft. sponge under plastron and blue tape (don't worry it's not that sticky) on her shell for identification. and by identification, i mean it's that she looks like a rock. the yard has been tortoise proofed.

Why there is a rope?
I see that nails on the left hind leg are long (but worn out on the right hind leg). Does she use both her legs when walking? Maybe you can add "hydrotherapy" to her soaking routine... I'll search for the guide.

Here we go:
I suspect that Russian tortoises don't float like Leopards or Redfoots, so you need to support your tortoise body or put some sort of pedestal under plastron. *Never leave your tortoise unattended*

hi, there is a rope because she likes to dig into bushes. there is a paper marker at the end of the thread, and it helps me track where she is. she uses both her legs when walking! i use hydrotherapy already by making sure she floats a bit in the bath. (yes she floats). i am always with her when she is soaking.

i do not know how to tell if she's "improving" or dragging less, it's really hard to measure something like that. but she is active, eats well, walks when i let her out (not that often because it's very cold) and scrabbles a LOT in the water.

her main issue is... not pooping 😊 and when she does poop it's often diarrhea. haha.

she walks on both sides fine. i think the picture makes it look uneven but in real life, it's alright

how much is a tortoise supposed to eat??!?! i say she eats well, by that i mean, a pretty large handful every day (large by my view because my hands are tiny) and leaves some behind.

sometimes she skips a meal every other day, then i make sure to give her a little bit more the next day and she finishes it. if i hand feed her, she often finishes the whole bowl!

a bit less than usual amount, give or take. i don't use a scale to measure her food. imagine there is a 2x2 inch snippet of kale there too.

Sounds okay to me. If you weigh her - you should see small weight gain from month to month.

Don’t panic, if she’s eaten a little bit of substrate by accident, I’m sure it’ll pass through, if she was purposely eating mouthfuls of it, it’d be a problem, the odd accidental piece won’t do major harm! Just keep up with the soaks and see if she passes any in the coming weeks
