I know that Portulaca is edible. Just want to make sure that the type that I have is OK. Also, I belive the other plant is edible too, just want to make sure. Trying to find some new plants for my outdoor enclosure.
TIA

Yes, the purslane is edible--but I would not let your tort eat it in large amounts every day as a main staple of his diet. But it should be aok as part of a varied diet...

I do not know anything about the second plant, other than it first made me think, I would not offer that to my torts, no reason other than it has characteristics of some plants that I would not offer....HOWEVER, please do wait around and see if perhaps the others recognize it...:D

Hearts and flowers, what a pretty name for a pretty plant. I have not had the pleasure of seeing it before, but it looks like a really neat plant. The rose moss is such a wonderful plant that seems to thrive in the hottest places. An old old favorite here, even before tortoises came to live here. :D

Thanks, I am trying to fill in the outdoor enclosure that I have. I'm in AZ so everything withers and dies. The hearts and flowers plant seems to be thriving in my flower box. I snagged it from a hotel flower box last year. :) It has really taked off.
I picked up some wandering jew, spider plant, daylilies, and some ice plants to put in the pen. Hopefully they will spread and fill in. Poor guy only has some lettuces to keep him company right now. I did see the grass has started to sprout. :)
We will see how it goes.
