Do you know what kind of injection it was? Why did they give it? Did they diagnose anything?
It might just be s little sore.

The fact that they didn’t diagnose anything but still gave an injection is a problem. I wouldn’t trust that vet anymore.
Do you know what he injected? Was it a vitamin injection?
I’m not sure how long it will take for his leg to heal.

Ok, I see what you mean.
The problem with vitamin injections is that they do no good, and sometimes cause skin to start sliding off the infected area if overdosed. Don’t get worried yet, because it might not happen.
Definitely don’t use that vet anymore. I think that for now, the best thing to do would be to watch it and see if it gets worse, and definitely wait for another opinion from another member.

It seems to be stiff and probably soar from the injection.
Give it a few days and it will probably be better.
Of course you should still keep an eye out for skin loss or if the leg stiffens up more.
Extra soaks in warm water may help it feel better.

@Dipa I just found your thread. Joe was dreadful after injections. He tried to hide the leg that had been “hurt” and walk on the remaining 3. He was very cross about the whole thing. It was very funny to watch.

I think your tort is probably doing the same.

The walking really doesn’t look that abnormal. They struggle on very smooth surfaces like that floor.

Does your tort get UVB? If so, how? - outside or from a lamp?

Outside regularly like 2 to 3 hours direct sunlight
Soaking for like 1 hour
He never goes to the water so every 1.5 hour we soak him so he get enough water
He gets humidity around 70

It sounds like you’re doing everything you can.

Be aware that temperatures in full sun can be much hotter than the weather air temperature. Here in the UK, on a day when the sun is out, ground temperature in full sun can be well over 30C while the air temperature is maybe 17C.

Where you are, full sun in the hotter parts of the day will be far too hot.

UVB will pass through cloud and your tort will still get it in the shade of a building or tree. It’s important your tort has shade.

Give long soaks... 30-40 minutes maybe 3 times a day when the weather is very hot.

@Gillian Moore does this in Jordan

UVB doesn’t pass through window glass and having a window open doesn’t let enough in.

Ok
I am doing that
And he doesnt have any glass around his enclosure
He receives direct sunlight and i also provide shed for him
I am soaking him regularly and more than enough because of the summer
And his enclosure substrate which is coco coir is always damp

Just make sure he can retreat to deep shade when he’s out.

Torts can do the opposite of hibernation, called aestivation, when it is very hot. They go into a torpor to avoid the heat and will eat very little.

It’s best to put your tort out in the coolest part of the daylight hours when the weather is forecast to be over 25C, the UVB will be the same, and to make sure food is a available round the clock.

In the rare UK heatwaves, Joe could be found eating at dawn and dusk and sleep through the heat of the day.
