So on this website i saw someone have trued the plastic kind of thing to cover the enclosure
Is it good?
Is it good?
Yeah@Dipa The enclosure does not have to be wood. Wood is simply easier to work with and build something large enough to give the tortoise enough room. Wood must be protected (waterproofed) because of the moisture in the substrate. Where you live, it is very dry this time of year. So your biggest problem will be humidity. You can use a plastic sheet to cover the enclosure and keep in humidity and keep the substrate moist. With some outdoor exposure to sunshine for a few hours, at least twice a week, you don't have to worry about providing UVB lights. But you will need a basking light, and possibly night heat, depending upon how cool your house gets at night. So the problem is how to mount the basking light with a plastic cover on a low sided enclosure like you have. I see you are spending a lot of time looking through and reading as many posts as possible. So I think you will find some ideas on how to do that temporarily until you can change to a good, closed enclosure.
Yes, Sunshine will satisfy his need for UVB as long as you have him outside a few hours a week. You will still want good lighting in his inside enclosure. I like using a long fluorescent tube. They are rated by their color of light. Get on that is a 5000K = 6000K bulb if at all possible. That is a light that would be closest to daylight looking. Good lighting is important to your tortoise. I like to have it on a timer that keeps the light on 14 hours a day. It needs to be completely dark at night, so the CHE is nice to have since you already have it ordered. Put it on a thermostat set for 30°. If your home is not air conditioned, it probably will hardly ever even kick on this time of year for you. For basking I use a regular incandescent FLOOD type light bulb. Usually all I ever need is about 65 watts.Yeah
I read most of about the enclosure
What is good for the basking light?
If i privide him proper sunlight it will satisfy his needs of uva and uvb light, right?
My house doesnt go that much cold
Here is pretty much hot nowadays
Like 28 to 30 degreesat nights but i i ordered the CHE.
So it is half done
And will be deliver soon..View attachment 233601
yeah i will when it comes homeyeah it is actually good
try to grow grass and different weeds for the tortoise to feed on
yeahMake sure that you cover the metal parts with aluminum foil or plastic wrap with aluminum foil around the lamps. There is no way to hold humidity in something with holes. Also, how big is that?
