Replicating nature seems to be a fine balance. I try to be careful when using "natural" as an argument.Though speaking of Russians or other testudo, its interesting how "natural" is brought up when the premise of keeping them warm to prevent brumation is itself not natural.
My son took over the last 3 years, but I intend to restart the greenhouse this coming spring. Adding on to our house and then having both knees replaced really kept me away from one of my fav hobbies. I experimented with all methods of hydroponics and was about 75% successful in the many different methods.@Mrgeez I saw your other videos, do you still do the hydroponics?

Hopefully i can become as educated with tortoises as i am with hydroponics.
I hope to turn a section inside the greenhouse to a summer tortoise sanctuary if i ever “can get my head wrapped around “ my current indoor build. Right now i am REALLY spinning my wheels.
No problem! Yeah definitely keep goingThanks. I really appreciate the support. 2 days ago i decided to just give up. Today i awoke and decided this will not conquer me. I am a retired mech engineer that designed and built just about anything the last 50 years and still thrive to do so here on our property.

Truly above and beyond I must say! This is going to look SO good finishedI have 4 water features. 3 are suitable for drinking fountains. The 4th is a small waterfall. All 4 will be supplied by their own cheapo pond pumps from a 20 gal “super filter” i used for aquariums. The 20 gal will have filter floss, abundant activated charcoal, heaters set for 80 deg, and the 4 pumps. Each water feature will drain into the aquarium.
The soaking table to start will be filled manually with warm water and after a set time will dump into a 5 gal bucket via a controlled solenoid. Tests will see if the tort will remain in the tray long enuf for an adequate soak.
I like how it's shaping up. With good lightning, decor and plants it should be a stunning enclosure.I posted my latest video last friday but got no replies in the enclosure forum. I will post it on this forum. See below.

Many people choose to soak their Russians to be on the safe side. Especially if you don't have video surveillance, you might not catch them self soaking much, this goes especially with wild caught ones.Tests will see if the tort will remain in the tray long enuf for an adequate soak.
