I have never let my leopard TATUM flip over on his back. I made sure his enclosures had no place in it for that to happen. Now I am wondering if i should make sure he can flip himself upright? Should I put him on his back and see if he has the no how to right himself? Is this something I don't need to worry about, is it something that will just come natural should he ever need to? I hate the look of a tort on their backs, it looks so sad :( . This seems like a dumb question :p but, I am going to post it anyway :D

Don't ever place a tort on their backs. It's a horrible experience for them. If they accidentally flip over instinct should kick in and he should try and flip back. Box turtles and water turtles can flip back over easily, but tortoises have a very hard time of it and can die. Most can't go back over. It's awful for them.

Thank you, I was hoping the answer would be that I didn't need to. I have only seen videos of them trying to right themselves and it is horrible for me to see let alone what they must be feeling. I will never do it! I will also continue to be vigilant on making sure he can't accidentally do it in his home either. Thank you for the answer I was hoping for. It's just to bad that they have to have such a hard time at it. Makes me sad thinking of all the torts that may have died that way :( , how horrible.

Some of mines can flip back, but still, tort can die if they had on their backs for a long time..
