RES being abandoned are very common in Hong Kong, and animal welfare organisations are getting overwhelmed with the amount of sliders in the shelters and lack of adopters. A slider can stay at the shelter for months, until finally, someone can spot them. Personally, I cannot adopt them because I don't have space but I donate sometimes.
