We went to the Wildlife World Zoo & Aquarium this weekend here in Phoenix. We really enjoy this zoo and now that we own a Russian tortoise, we had a better appreciation of the variety and care of the tortoises there. The only awkward part was telling my daughter that the tortoises were "fighting". If you are ever in the area, I highly recommend going.

I loved that zoo. In addition to all the tortoises, King Vultures and Olive baboons are two of my favorites. They have a very nice collection of animals there and they take good care of them too.

I told my daughter they were "wrestling". She's almost 10 now and just starting to catch on…

I love it that they have that water feature in the star tortoise enclosure and that the stars use it all the time. Every time I walked by that enclosure at least one star was in the water and you could see wet shells that had recently come out of the water. Made me pause and think about how I keep my own tortoises.

I think there were about 10 tortoises in the Star enclosure and 3 pairs were "fighting". There were nice Red and Yellow foot enclosures, several Snapping turtles, one was gigantic, a very nice Pancake enclosure and several more that I'm forgetting at the moment. I really like their reptile exhibits, my favorite was the Poison Dart frog exhibit.

What super photos!
I love the frogs, too! :)
I don't like fighting at the best of times, but attacking someone from behind is most unsporting.

When I used to live in Phoenix it was not a Zoo yet. It was Mickey Olsen's Rare Bird Fatm. He was a bit of a specialist. Guans and Curasow's if I recall. He has a real nice facility now.
