I have a 20’ x 50’ greenhouse that i was planning to use at least a third of for my future tortoise(s). I know that most uvb will not pass thru the greenhouse covering and a uvb bulb will be required. Will a tort’s instinct seek out the area beneath the uvb bulb in such a large roaming area i plan to close in?

The will instinctively seek a basking area with heat, which is one of the reasons UVB is recommended to be mounted near heat lamps.

Its been 10 years since i recovered the greenhouse. I remember it was costly and came from a greenhouse supplier. I am assuming it probably protects plants from harmful uv.

What tortoise species are you getting? How many?🐢💚I can pass on some visual examples hanging uv etc once I know what kind you’re getting for the right care sheet😊

A pair of Hermanns or russians. I know they need to be separate

Cool glad you’re keeping them separate! Hopefully think link gives an idea for mounting the lights if you scroll down

And hopefully the greenhouse section here helps too!

I meant rigid panels or poly. I was thinking it might be possible to make a section that allowed UVB through. The uv transmissive panels are more expensive and harder to get, the uv transmissive poly is easier to get but probably has a shorter lifespan overall.
