If the scutes are starting to raise then it could be. Do you have him in a humid enclosure?

Not sure, make sure your humidity is correct and ensure he gets his daily soak and access to water at all times, this should prevent it from getting any worse.

It is hard to tell in pics. The 1st looks like not really, but the 2nd looks like some. As stated above, make sure your humidity is good. Remember to keep temps up with high humidity.

It will eventually become pyramiding if it continues growing with this most recent current pattern.

The earlier growth looks great. What changed? Did this tortoise get moved to a new enclosure? Large open table perhaps?

I brought him home from a breeder who had them in an open top enclosure and other than the goods I don't know what's changed. The enclosures he had did have higher sides though. I'm thinking about getting some cover for Hal the enclosure under the lamp so it gets humid. Or will this make it too hot?

Yes, it would help to keep the humidity. Does he have plants and other humid hides in the enclosure, especially a moist sleeping place?

He sleeps ontop of his substrate under his fake leaves. I tried real plants but they died :( I'm buying some sphagnum moss to put in his terracotta pot for a moist area that he will hopefully sleep in.

I tried dill and thyme, I can't find any weeds in my garden as my dad put weed killer on the lawn :(

Is there really no forest, meadow, park, cemetery or whatever near you where you can get some weeds? Then what do you feed your Spud?

Would you like me to have a gentle talk about the importance of organic gardening with your dad?

You can use house plants, it doesn't have to be weeds in your habitat. Just make sure the fertilizer and other commercially applied chemicals are gone.

I have a seed mix but I can't really put it in, I tried, but they dried out so I keep a planter outside with weeds.
