Hi,
I was weighing the choice between outdoor enclosure at ground level versus outdoor tort table.
Does anyone feel that the tort is more scared or timid when you approach looking like
a giant walking up to a ground level enclosure, compared to a table approach ?
Just wondering if anyone had thoughts on this - Thxs

I don't know about scaring them, but on the ground is a lot easier to provide adequate shade and vegetation. Also a lot easier to make it appropriate size, and expand when needed.

I agree with Jodie. I also think though, that approaching looking like Giants and from above, which is where their enemies trying to eat them would approch from probably does scare them more, but once they get to know you, they get over it very quickly.

Usually when outside, the tortoise sees you coming from a long way off, so it's not like you've just all of a sudden loomed up over him. I vote for ground level.

Maybe if you jump up and yell " BOO", then perhaps. They often see you, once they know you are not a threat, even approaching out of line of sight, shouldn't be scary,or disturbing.
