So I recently aquired a turtle/tortoise from my neighbor who is moving. Now I don't know what his exact species is but it looks like he had a box shell, but web like feet. He kinda looks like a painted pond turtle. I need help identify what type he is. I would I also need alittle help on his enclourse I don't know if I met his needs being because I don't know what he is. Any tips for what I should change. Right now he has half water half dirt(from the pet store). The water is in a tub with a filter and a water heater. He has a uvb light and a heat light. He also has a little den to hide in.IMG_20180731_212415109.jpegIMG_20180731_204335744.jpegIMG_20180731_204329806.jpegIMG_20180731_204323600.jpegIMG_20180731_204426649.jpegIMG_20180731_204522796.jpegIMG_20180731_211651383.jpegIMG_20180731_175053226.jpegIMG_20180731_175103553.jpegIMG_20180731_175313635.jpegIMG_20180731_175140919.jpegIMG_20180731_175108831.jpeg

yup its a wood turtle. It a orante wood turtle like above mentioned. I beleive also called the central american wood turtle. Googling both those names will give you an idea on care. They are pretty much box turtle care more water and warmer climate. They do not hibernate so must provide heat on cooler days. Over all not to hard to care for!

It also looks like the previous keeper really did him a dis service. He's a bit deformed. Looks like he's been kept too dry, however, with that nice little swimming pool I don't see how that can be. Maybe it's a lack of UVB/animal protein thing - or maybe too much animal protein. Do you know what the previous keeper fed him?

it is definitely an ornate or painted wood turtle. Looks fully grown. needs a moist environment with plenty of hiding places. he'll eat a varied diet and shouldn't be hard to feed him. dandelion leaves, and other greens, zoo med pellets, meal worms, worms, that kind of thing. have fun with him they get to be quite personable.
