Okay, thank you. And the title may have been an unfitting choice of words, but it played along with my version of the story (hehe) so sorry if this misled you. And I agree, I should've specified "venomous" to be to me or Otis. Thank you for your help, though!

No worries. I'm just the opposite of you. I love spiders. Where I work, I lay down the law for any newcomer. "We do NOT kill or injure spiders here. You can scream like a little girl and I'll come and rescue you from the big scary spider but you are NOT allowed to hurt him." I've had to rescue more than one big, strapping guy from a tiny little half-inch long spider.:D

OMG! He's adorable too! We have them in my area, but we're rarely fortunate enough to encounter them. You can find them deliberately by flipping artificial cover but I don't see the point in disrupting their habitat and freaking them out just because I want to look at them, so I don't do that. Now and again I come across one in the open in the course of snake rescues, and it's always kind of magical.

Thanks for posting him!

We were out on a motorcycle ride , and stopped at a park to use the bathroom. He was in the cool dark restroom when my wife turned on the light and discovered him hiding behind the door ! Perfect photo opp .

Perfect! I love those little chance encounters. Always makes me feel as if I just won a lottery!

I can imagine! They're both awesome in their own ways.. I prefer tortoises though :D. My father went to South Africa and there were enormous tortoises roaming around as they pleased, hundreds, in people's gardens and in plain landscape, he told me. Amazing!
