IMG_7020.jpegIMG_7019.jpegIMG_7017.jpegIMG_7016.jpegHi all , I’ve had 2 Herman’s from a very young age ( months ? ) since 2002 and have always been led to believe I had a male and female , they are 22 - now I am not so sure . Can anyone advise from these pics ?

Hi, as Bill stated above, these are not Hermann’s tortoises. They are Testudo graeca ibera and both are in fact males. 👍🏻
Hi , Testudo graeca ibera are Spur thigh ? Mine have no spurs , unlike my much older Spur - so I’m confused now 🤫IMG_7031.jpegIMG_7026.jpeg

Some T. graeca will lack spurs on the thighs, just like how some T. hermanni will actually have them (seen mostly on specimens from Sicily). This is why general, old information needs to be updated. There is always variation with tortoises, especially the Testudo genus. Always take the animal’s entire appearance into consideration. Hermann’s tortoises look much different than this overall.

And this is why Testudos are so hard to id, and me among most other people will wait for an expert like Chris to tell us!
