Hi Everyone! Can anyone help me to identify this tortoise I inherited?

Hi Everyone! I am Smiley & I am from the Chicago land area. My sister in law came to live with us 6 months ago with Kayha, her tortoise. Sue passed away a couple of weeks ago from cancer & I find myself caring for this tortoise. I want to do the best job possible so I am here to learn all that I can about her. I pulled her out of her tank to get a decent picture of her. I hope its good enough. My cat, Winnie, photo bombed it.

I don't think we have much info here on the Forum for Hingeback tortoises, but if you open a dialog with Jacqui, she'll help you set Kayha up in a better habitat.

I don't keep hingeback tortoises, but just off the top of my head, I think they are a forest species and probably need a humid, well-planted area.
