Hi Everyone!
I have just set up a new outdoor habitat for my 3 year old Hermanns tortoise, and although it is not too hot at the moment, the flower pot on its side (which I have made as a hide) gets quite hot inside- should I provide a cooler hide so that he doesn't overheat, and does anyone have any creative ides for other hides? He is also outgrowing his original indoor table which he has had since he was tiny, does anybody have any recommendations for how I can upgrade?

Hello!
It's always better to make several hides (as sun moves through the day).
For hides you can provide him a dense bush, a burrow (you can use some slate/bricks etc. to mark an entrance), a small insulated house (doubles as a secure nighttime box), large cork bark piece, plastic pipe or gutter (maybe, half-buried in the ground), a stump, a flower pot on a low stand.

Also, deep (multi-layered) shade is important in hot weather. More on that here: https://tortoiseforum.org/threads/the-importance-of-deep-shade.123288/
