How do I tell if it's female or male?

I was given a Chinese box turtle and told that it was a female but today it went to pee and poop and a black thing came out and then went back in. I was worried it was her bladder or something (I have no idea) I've had her for about a month and have never seen that happen though. I have a video if anyone wants to see?

According to Google, that's the Chinese word for penis.

Haha that would be kinda perfect! Its a little weird but most of my cats have Japanese names and since he's Chinese then a Chinese name would be perfect And thats a good name hahah
