How many times a week do you guys feed your sully? I have 2 that just turned 4 yrs. Yes they live separate. I have read you feed them a few times a week min but Im unsure if I'm over feeding and don't want to cause problems later. They eat twice a day which totals 2 - 3 heads of lettuce + whatever they graze on throughout the day. Is this to much every day?

Hello. In the wild if there's food available they eat. They have to gain weight and go through all kinds of stuff because of mommy dearest. In other words mother nature. They are constantly worried they won't get enough food and animals tend to overeat more if they feel like they might have to go without food. I believe in full feeding and do it with all my animals. I even have a house rabbit that's full fed and she doesn't get fat or overeat. I can't get her to eat her veggies though 🤣 all she wants is her kibbles and bits and Timothy hay

They need to be able to graze all day every day. They will not over-eat or get fat. They shouldn't be eating lettuce.

Hello 🤗. If they were in the wild and felt hungry how would you just say no? I think it's silly to base your knowledge around what happens to them in the wild. We are able to do so much better with the optimum conditions that we can accomplish for them.🙂

Do what I do... create a beautiful garden full of tortiose friendly plants half way to maturity in the middle of a backyard full of edible grasses and watch em eat and stomp all over your garden. It's fun and won't make you feel sad at all. (Tortimer eats daily. During the winter, he eats every other day on his own, but he always has food available to him. When I first got him he overate, but I think it was because he was on the 2-3 times a week schedule. But now that he knows he always has a food source, he moderates himself.)
